Global bank announced as Green Business of the Year sponsor

HSBC have been announced as the latest category sponsor for this year’s South West Business Leader Awards.

HSBC is one of the world’s largest banking and financial services firms and serves more than 39 million customers through four global businesses: Retail Banking and Wealth Management, Commercial Banking, Global Banking and Markets, and Global Private Banking.

The HSBC network covers 66 countries and territories in Europe, Asia, the Middle East and Africa, North America and Latin America.

They will be sponsoring the Green Business of the Year Award – a category that recognises companies that have demonstrated a successful commitment to managing their social, environmental and financial obligations. They will have put sustainability at the core of their business.

The award is open to businesses operating in the low carbon economy, or those outside it running green programmes, or have launched a sustainable product or initiative.

To enter the business will be required to submit an 800-word entry that demonstrates the following points to the independent panel of judges.

  • Ethical leadership and stakeholder engagement
  • Clear environmental management systems
  • Overview of the sustainable impact your business, product or initiative has had on the environment, community or business world

James Shepherd, Head of Corporate Banking for Avon, Gloucestershire and Wiltshire at HSBC commented: “HSBC is delighted to be sponsoring the Green Business of the Year Award at the 2019 Business Leader Awards. Being green is important in modern business and celebrating those who are leading the way is vitally important.

“I am looking forward to seeing the shortlist and seeing who will take home the trophy at the event in September.”
